Last week I launched JustIDJobs.com, a dedicated job board for industrial designers that curates only industrial design job postings from around the web.
The past few days have been a pretty hectic blur of launching, upkeep, maintenance, and responding to comments and feature requests. But I’m really encouraged by the response from the community.
It seems like a lot of people were acutely feeling the pain points of the ID job search process that I am trying to solve. Many were very appreciative when they saw the site.
This is exactly the kind of response you would hope for when launching any kind of product, because it means you are addressing a real need.
As a bit of a data nerd, I obsessed over the metrics as the week went by.
Here’s how week 1 went, by the numbers:
1,877 new unique users
11,182 page views
62 new jobs curated and posted
2 new blog posts
91 email alert subscribers
2,328 job views
593 job apply clicks
Not bad for week 1! Hopefully this kind of traffic keeps going.
One thing I was concerned about was losing subscribers on my personal email list due to not including the job listings on the weekly email anymore, having moved that entirely to the new dedicated site.
Honestly, I think the web site is a better user experience overall as it’s searchable and you can filter by product category, location, etc. But I understood from previous polls on the newsletter that a lot of people primarily subscribed for the job listings.
I was worried that my list would dwindle significantly.
Those fears turned out to be unfounded (at least so far). I did see a slight dip in subscribers (<10) but it soon started ticking back up again.
If you were primarily here for the job postings and aren’t interested in reading my writing, absolutely no hard feelings if you do want to unsubscribe.

This section will no longer be updated, but JustIDJobs.com will be updated daily with new industrial design jobs curated by a real human.
